Booth Spirit Awards Honor Community Unsung Heroes

CINCINNATI, April  2008 — The Volunteers of America Ohio River Valley is seeking nominations to honor community heroes from all walks of life for the Second Annual Booth Spirit Awards.

“Our job is to continue the tradition of our founders, Maud and Ballington Booth, who left a lasting legacy of community improvement in this country,” said Chris Lohrman, president and CEO of Volunteers of America’s local chapter. “The Booth Spirit Awards are our way of saying thanks to those who have demonstrated a similar commitment to our region.”

On Oct. 15, 2008, the Volunteers of America will honor individuals, organizations or companies with Booth Spirit Awards during a luncheon at the Cintas Center. The awards will honor social heroes in the following categories:

  • Corporate Representative
  • Legal/Law Enforcement Representative
  • Media Representative or Outlet
  • Greater Cincinnati Volunteer
  • Community Organization

“Everybody knows someone who is working day in and day out toward making our community a better place to live, whether it’s by righting wrongs, serving the less fortunate or planning for our future,” said Jim Hayes, Booth Spirit Awards committee chairman.  “What better way to say thanks than nominating them for this inaugural award?”

Honorees will be selected from nominations submitted by individuals throughout Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.  Forms are available for download on the Volunteers of America Web site at http://www.voaorv.org/.
